Documenting Veteran stories.

I started with my friend Chris who shares similar values as me and documented videos about veterans. I got to spend many weekends throughout my high school career listening to and interviewing veteran’s story and their experiences.

Our videos received over 340,000+ views on Youtube and were used by various media.

My motive behind this.

For those who understand the history between the PRC and the ROC, after the Chinese Civil War, ROC veterans have traveled thousands of miles away from their families to an island and lived their life defending and building Taiwan. The least I can do is to spend time with them, listening to their stories and documenting them. Throughout this year-long journey, I've heard dozens of different stories, spent countless hours with the veterans, and developed my interest in politics. I really hope I can do something in the future that contributes to a more equal society where people get the credit they deserve. Almost all of the veterans I visited are in their 90s, and live alone in poor conditions reliant on the little pension they receive from the government. I'm not sure how much time I have left until they all fade away, but I want to do whatever I can to make the next generation remember what they did for us. Aside from directly spending time with the veterans, I've written various articles pointing out the structural problems that I've observed within political organizations that are leading the future of veterans to a dead end.
